Its been 4 months since I published my previous blog “from composer to music director.. a much needed transition” (https://abhisheksn.wordpress.com/2011/10/05/from-composer-to-music-director/).  I had explained in detail as to what were the root causes for me pitching in to music direction, in my previous blog. This blog is more or less an extension to the same, that I would be explaining my experiences working with this album.

First of all friends, I have decided to name the album as “NeraLaagi” (ನೆರಳಾಗಿ ) , which literally translates to “being like a shade” in english. To recollect, The album is being written, composed & directed by me, Abhishek S N. I have also sung a few songs in the album.

While I started this whole new experiment, I assumed it would become a small budget music album with some beautiful tunes. But now the story is quite different. The album has grown into a huge music album which demands some very good publicity and reach. The reason is simple, its because of the confidence I earned through out the project.

Neralaagi would have 7 different songs of different genres. In each song you get to hear some fresh sounds, fresh tunes, fresh vocals too. To break the secret , I would like to mention the genres of each of the 7 songs.
1. Romantic Melody Male Solo
2. Romantic Slow Melody Female Solo
3. Romantic Melody Peppy Duet
4. Satirical Tappangucchi Dance
5. Romantic Slow Melody Duet
6. Indian heavy metal Rock
7.Romantic Male Pathos

Each song has been made with the limited knowledge of music and lyrics, whatever I have. But as an audience when I listen to each of the song, I can just say that each song is lovable, different from each other, catchy and impressive.

  • You would listen to voices of Great singers like Sadhana Sargam, Aishwarya Majmudar from Bollywood & Avinash Chebbi, Surpriya Acharya, Shashank Sheshgiri from Sandalwood in this album.
  • Ofcourse you would listen to 3 songs in my voice too.
  • Some of the great bollywood instrument players like Ustad Dilshad Khan(Saarangi) , Saarang Kulkarni(Sarod), Darshan Doshi (Live Drums), Abhijith (Guitar), Abhilash (Rhythmist) have worked on my compositions in this album.
  • You would listen to different set of sounds and instruments in each song, ranging from saxaphone , saarangi to Sarod and sitars! all LIVE! (not programmed stuff 😉 )
  • Bollywood mixing engineers like Nadeem Ansari , Shakeel ahmed and other mixing engineers would work on the tracks.

Iam planning to release this album “differently” during June End. Ofcourse, Iam not very sure about dates because Music is, as of now part time passion of mine, while other passions like  photography, screenwriting also take some priority during my free time. Ofcourse Cisco has been my bread for life and butter for this music album 😉 ! Will keep you guys posted. Until then some TO DOs for you 😀 :

  • please have a look at the posters below
  • let me know any leads/ideas for producing the CD production and distribution part 😉  (email : abhishek.snabhi @ gmail.com )
  • ideas for distributing the digital media are also welcome (iTunes etc)
Last, but not the least, I would like to thank Swapnil Digde, who has been very supportive for the album, being a music arranger and programmer for this project.

Please let me know how are the (working)posters (designed by myself)!

SriHarikathe

SriHarikathe

The Trend of listening to Traditional Harikathe is gone in most parts of the state. The reason might be that, Harikathe is an art where some illogical mythological stories are explained so seriously!

SriHarikathe is one movie which shows a Harikathe daasa telling a romantic modern love story in a comical way. The movie is directed by Dayal Padmanabhan. It stars the talented SriMurali, kannada premi Pooja Gandhi and her sister Radhika Gandhi. Its also in news for the fact that, for the first time, the gandhi sisters are acting in opposite roles in the movie. Besides these actors there are a lot of other talented actors featuring in this movie like Naveen Krishna, Sihi Kahi Chandru etc.

The audio of the same was released on 12th Dec, 2009 @ Hotel BELL, Bangalore. The music director of the movie is Sameer Kulkarni of Urban Lads album fame.

Oh ya, am here to speak mainly about the Harikathe Audio infact. What impresses me in the Audio of Harikathe is that, there are no songs which are like “inserted in the script for the sake of it”. Every song is completely blended with the script’s pace, i.e, as the song goes on, the story also moves in the movie.

SriHarikathe Audio Release

Now lets come to the most interesting part of this blog.
Mobilena Switchnu aarisi, ee katheyannu aalisi !

Oops, am not telling this to u.. this is the starting dialogue of the Harikathe daasa in the Harikathe Title song. The song starts off with a touch of Titanic theme music in it and goes on to Harikathe format of singing. It has been written and sung by Naveen Krishna himself, who features as the Titanic Harikathe daasa in the movie.

The movie has a limited number of steamy scenes which are very much essential for the script, all of those would fall in to a song in fact. The song is Sari Sari illellavu sari , sung sensually by Kunal Ganjawaala in his usual sensual bheegey hont tere tone of voice! The pallavi of this song sounds more interesting and impressive than the tune of the charaNa of this song. Probably, the steamy scenes of PoojaGandhi during the charaNa lines would fill it up for it 😉 heehee! The song ofcourse is a duet 😉 and the female singer with Kunal is Inchara. The lines like “Sukhavu onde Sanjeya guri“, make it feel more sensual. Thanks to Naveen Krishna again for the lyrics.

Aah.. now I get to the most melodious romantic number of this album, Summane Ninnannu. Any guess about the singer? Who else can that be, apart from the one and only Rajesh Krishnan! I would say its a bold and a worth appreciating step by Dayal and Sameer for not employing Sonu Nigam’s voice for this song, because such a melodious top class song always goes to Sonu these days. To make this song even more better, We have Yograj Bhat writing the lyrics for this. The basic tune is taken from Sameer Kulkarni’s earlier Urban Lads hit album’s Gari Gari song. Each charaNa has a romantic poetic voice coming up, telling a kannada shaayari. I guess its Sumanth’s voice. “Dooraviruvudaralliye Jaasthi preethiyu yaakide?” “Yella iddaru besara.. preethi yendare kaathara” “keLi biDuvenu devara, preethi yaakide eethara?” are some of the lines that really add to the beauty of the song!

The beauty of the previous song is such that, the same tune with a lesser tempo , a different voice and a different lyrics makes it a perfect pathos too. Yes, the team has very intelligently picked up namma Vijay Prakash for this pathos version, Jodi JeevagaLe! Vijay Prakash puts every possible feel of pathos in this song, so beautifully. Dont be surprised if you get in to a very different mood by listening to this 3 minute song. Nagathihalli chandrashekar‘s Lokalokadha baadhege, preethiyembude oushadhalines portrays the importance of missing love in the song.

There is one more very popular song of Urban Lads album adopted in to SriHarikathe, thats “maaDabeDa“. There are lot of things that we should be doing in life, but what shouldn’t we do? explains this song. Sung by Inchara and Written by the music director sameer kulkarni himself, is supposed to be the Introduction song of Pooja Gandhi in the movie. Pooja would look trendy in more than 10 costumes in the same song. This is a mix of Hip hop and Rap with some good music also.

Besides all this, there is a Fast theme/promo music which would not be featured in the movie. It has been sung by Sameer Kulkarni and written by M.L.Prasanna.

Overall the album features the FEEL needed for the movie, as I already said , every song goes with the story.

Now its time for you to listen to the Audio and wait for the movie. Good luck to the team !
